We cruised in our sail boat, Notre Voyage, for 3 years from New York City to the Caribbean. While sailing I created a series of paintings inspired by the sailing in the ocean.
At first I had difficulty to draw a straight line because of the boat movement. So I went just the opposite to allow the boat movement make the lines as we sailed along.

The lines drawn in this painting inspired me of spirals so I created a fractal spiral to interact with the lines made by the boat movement and used color shapes in the lines to add to the fractal nature and create excitement.

The undulation lines are from the boat movement. The ocean surface waves are fractals. I work in the boat's cockpit and place the pen on paper and allow the movements to draw the lines.

This painting was created on a calm bright sunny day, the painting conjures up the image of a bright sunny sailing day moving along gentle seas. I also like the way the movement jumps out of the frame to create a feeling of wide open expansive space.
